It will also give you an invaluable experience in the art of convincing arguments. These skills are not the only ones you'll master, but debate will teach you how to communicate with your audience.

The ability to communicate clearly complex ideas is vital to be an effective debater. Insufficient clarity could result in you losing your flow of thoughts and leave you not prepared. It is also important to be careful not to use excessive words during your speech. So, it's a good idea to be sure to record your speech before you start. This will allow you to make a plan and to be prepared for the debate.

Debates are a planned discussion between two groups of people with different views. Each team is given an issue and given the opportunity to present their arguments. In the course of the debate, the positive side argues in favor of the resolution, while the negative side argues against the resolution. The first speaker of the opposing team speaks before the second speaker. The second speaker who is affirmative speaks to the negative side of the argument.
